During their training, students master the technical elements of musical performance and theory, including vocal and instrumental techniques, solfege, and music history. They also study practical artistic methods, the application of creative methodologies, and the use of professional performance tools to develop a sophisticated repertoire and a high level of musicianship. In practice, this means a curriculum rich in hands-on experience, a mandatory internship included in their curriculum, and a comprehensive selection of specialized subjects.

What are the career prospects after graduating as a Music Theoretician or Music Assistant?

Graduates are able to work at music institutions and at other occupations which require music education. Having achieved a high standard of knowledge, they can continue their studies in one of the MA specializations.

 

How can I enroll in the program?

Earning a degree at the University of Debrecen in Hungary provides an EU-accredited qualification recognized across the globe. The admission process is conducted entirely online, featuring written and oral entrance exams designed to evaluate subject-specific knowledge and personal motivation. We also offer a variety of academic merit-based scholarships for our students.  

 

What are the language requirements for Musical Creative Art and Musicology, BA?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 513 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Musical Creative Art and Musicology, BA?

Yes, admission is based on a high school certificate and an online entrance exam. You must submit piano and voice performance materials. If these satisfy the requirements, you will be invited to the next phase: an online exam covering solfege, music theory, and folk music.

Please note that the BA in Musical Creative Art and Musicology operates on a single-intake academic calendar. This program only starts in September of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June.

How much does it cost to study Musical Creative Art and Musicology, BA at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 10,000 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
