Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse), BSc

The Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse) BSc program at the University of Debrecen (UD) is an eight-semester program comprising 240 ECTS credits, with over half of the curriculum dedicated to practical training. Based at the Nyíregyháza Campus, the course prepares students to provide professional care for individuals, families, and communities across all levels of health and social provision.

The program starts in September of each year.
 
All courses are taught in English; therefore, a B2 level English proficiency is required.
 

Admission requires a high school certificate; an entrance interview where the level of English, high school studies, motivation and communication skills of the applicant are assessed.

 
This is a 4-year program consisting of 8 academic semesters
 
Students earn 240 ECTS in total.
 
The tuition fee for this program is 7,500 USD/Year

What to expect during the program?  

The goal of the nursing degree program is to train professionals who possess high level professional knowledge, who take up the responsibility to provide nursing for individuals, families and communities, who are able to do their best in health care and rehabilitation, who can make decisions in preventive care, curing, nursing care and rehabilitation at all levels of health and social provision.

Is there an internship incorporated into the program?

Yes, to complete the degree, students must fulfill an extensive 48-week internship, preparing them for professional roles in hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers worldwide.

 

What are the career prospects after graduating?

The nurses may be located in healthcare, various public and private health care facilities, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and other areas of social and educational sectors as well as charitable organizations as well. Based on their acquired knowledge the graduates can continue their education in doctoral programs.

What are the language requirements for Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse), BSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 513 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse), BSc?

Yes, there is an entrance interview where the level of English, high school studies, motivation and communication skills of the applicant are assessed. Applicants also have to complete a written Biology entrance exam.

Please note that the BSc in Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse) operates on a single-cycle academic calendar. This program only starts in September of each year. The application deadline is 15th June.

How much does it cost to study Nursing and Patient Care (Nurse) at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 7,500 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
