All courses are taught in English; therefore, a B2 level English proficiency is required.

Academic entry:

 

Admission requires a high school certificate; an English Placement Test with an Oral Entrance Exam and passing a written and oral entrance exam in Mathematics and Physics.

This is a 3.5-year program consisting of 7 academic semesters.

Students earn 210 ECTS in total.

What to expect during the program?  

During their studies, students gain in-depth knowledge of the technical foundations of information and infrastructure systems, including computer architectures, telecommunication networks, embedded systems, measurement and control technologies, and operating systems. They also become familiar with practical engineering methods, software development methodologies, and modern development tools. The program places strong emphasis on hands-on experience, incorporating a mandatory internship and offering a comprehensive selection of specialized subjects to ensure practical and industry-relevant training.

Is there an internship incorporated into the program?

Yes, students must complete an 8-week internship either at the university working on research projects or at a multinational or local company.

 

What are the career prospects after graduating as a Computer Science Engineer?

There has been a great demand for Computer Science Engineer BSc graduates in the labour market for years. They can easily find work in the sectors of production, services, civil service, banking, commerce, or enterprises. According to their specialization, they can choose to work as system designers and developers, programmers, software developers, web designers, data-base developers, corporate management IT professionals, or system administrators.

What are the language requirements for Computer Science Engineering, BSc?

Applicants must have an English proficiency of at least B2 level as the program is fully taught in English. For your information, this is equivalent to:

  • a TOEFL test with a minimum score of 513 (Paper-Based).
  • an IELTS test with a minimum score of 5.5.

Please note, that you are not strictly required to have a language exam certificate, your language skills will be assessed during the entrance interview.

 

Is there an entrance exam for Computer Science Engineering, BSc?

Yes, admission is based on a high school certificate and online written and oral entrance exams in Mathematics.

Until when can I apply for the program?

Please note that the BSc in Computer Science Engineering operates on a single-intake academic calendar. This program only starts in September of each year. The application deadline in the self-financed procedure is 15th June.

How much does it cost to study Computer Science Engineering, BSc at the University of Debrecen?

The tuition fee is 7,000 USD / year for this program.

This is supplemented by the application fee of $150 USD (one-time) and the entrance procedure fee of $350 USD that covers the examination and interview. Please note that the application and entrance procedure fees are non-refundable and must be paid via bank transfer to initiate the review process.
