Short description:
The doctoral program in preventive medicine and public health within the framework of Doctoral Training Programs of the Medical University of Debrecen was accredited by the Hungarian Higher Education Committee in 1999. The Doctoral School of Health Sciences with the PhD program of preventive medicine and public health was accredited in 2001. The research program is built on strong collaborations with nationally recognized research centers in the field and their leading experts as supervisors offering a wide variety of research topics and PhD courses. The PhD degree is offered to those who want to engage in public health research. A university degree, research proposal and acceptance by a supervisor and an excellent knowledge of English are prerequisites for entering the program. At present the Doctoral School of Health Sciences has two programs: besides “Preventive medicine and public health”, the PhD program “Metabolic and endocrine diseases” was accredited in 2008. The accreditation of the Doctorial School was recently renewed till December 31, 2019.
