Doctoral School: Doctoral School of Linguistics
Doctoral council of disciplinary area: Humanities
Discipline: English linguistics
Short description: We are especially interested in syntax, morphology, semantics, and pragmatics; as well as in the more interdisciplinary fields of computational linguistics, discourse analysis, first and second language acquisition, and sociolinguistics. With a firm devotion to linguistic theory, we also welcome and encourage experimental and corpus-driven approaches to the study of language; and though we focus on English, we are also open to other languages of the world.
Only students with a university/MA degree are accepted, based on an interview that evaluates the applicant's scholarly performance, research proposal, and general professional intelligence. Doctoral students may be engaged in teaching in the undergraduate program of the University of Debrecen.
