Requirements for getting vaccinated in Hungary

 

Those foreign citizens can get vaccinated in Hungary who

1. possess a residence permit issued by the government of Hungary.

(Please make sure you use the SAME NAME in the SAME ORDER as shown on your residence permit, as well as the correct residence permit number, when registering for the vaccine!)

or

2. are EEA citizens (EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein) with a registration card.

(If you have an EEA registration card, you have to use your personal identity number instead of your passport/residence permit number!)

or

3. arrive with a D-type visa will have to apply for a residence permit at the local office for Aliens Policing.

You may only register for a vaccination once you receive your residence permit, as you will need the residence permit number to finish the process. Therefore, please make sure you start the application as soon as possible!

 

You may register for a vaccine here once you receive your residence permit.

 

You will need to provide the following information (and/or):

  1. Full name
  2. Age
  3. Residence permit number or
  4. Personal ID number (on Address Card)
  5. ID document’s registration number or
  6. Passport number
  7. Address or postal address
  8. E-mail address and mobile number

 

After registration you may book your appointment here if you have a TAJ (social security card) number.

And here if you do not have one. The technical number (PID) you will need to use to get an appointment, instead of a TAJ number, will be sent to you via e-mail after registering on the vaccine info website.

 

Requirements for obtaining the Hungarian vaccination card

You are entitled to receive the official Hungarian vaccination card if you have been vaccinated in Hungary with the vaccines approved by the Hungarian government, or if you have been vaccinated in the countries listed below and are also entitled to stay in Hungary for a minimum of 90 days within 180 days (meaning you obtained a residence permit):

  • All EU member states, as well as prospective members
  • All countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development
  • All countires of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
  • Russian Federation
  • Republic of China
  • United Arab Emirates
  • Kingdom of Bahrain
  • The Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States
  • Or any country included in this list (frequently updated)

 

How to obtain the Hungarian vaccination card:

If you do not have a TAJ number and have registered for a vaccination in Hungary (see below) and have already received your vaccination in Hungary, your vaccination card will be automatically issued by the government.

Those non-Hungarian citizens who have been vaccinated with one of the vaccines approved by the Hungarian government, in one of the countries listed above, and are also entitled to stay in Hungary for a minimum of 90 days within 180 days may request to receive the Hungarian vaccination card free of charge. You may start the process of requesting the Hungarian vaccination card in person at one of the government offices, or electronically by filling out a form here.

Important: non-Hungarian citizens vaccinated abroad do not have the option to use the Vaccination Card application.

 

What documents are required to start the process:

An official medical document (issued by the local authorities or the health care provider of the country the vaccine was administered) certifying the vaccination of the individual in English or Hungarian. If it is not available in English in Hungarian, then an official Hungarian translation of said document is needed, the document must contain the type of the vaccine used, as well as the exact date, time and place of vaccination.

 

How long does it take to receive the Hungarian vaccination card?

8 days if you are entitled for the card automatically (see above)

15 days if you have been vaccinated abroad and wish to request a Hungarian vaccination card as well.

 

How can one receive the vaccination card?

By mail (not electronically!) in all cases. The vaccination card will be sent to the registered place of residence or the temporary address provided during the process.

 

How long is the Hungarian vaccination card valid for?

 As of the current rules and regulations, it does not have an expiration date.
