New dual degree programs in preparation 24. Sep. 2025

The delegation from East China University of Technology arrived at the University of Debrecen on September 22 together with representatives from the organization called iStudy Education Group. The Chinese education agency has been a partner of the University of Debrecen for more than twenty years in the fields of student recruitment and internationalization. The joint delegation was welcomed in the Main Building by Endre Harsányi, Vice-Rector for Agricultural and Food Science Development, Okszána Kiszil, Director of Coordination and Strategy, Attila Jenei, Director of our Coordinating Center for International Education, and László Kozma, Program Coordinator.


During the meeting, President Luo Xianping and his colleagues received detailed information about the University of Debrecen's programs and research system, infrastructure, and extensive international institutional and industrial partner network. With regard to student numbers, they learned that there are 418 Chinese students currently studying in Debrecen, the majority of which are enrolled at the faculties of Medicine, Information Technology, and Natural Sciences and Technology.


The representatives of East China University of Technology and iStudy jointly recalled the most important milestones in the relationship between the two universities to date, including the cooperation agreement signed in 2020, the participation of Chinese students in summer courses, and guest lecturer visits. The Chinese institution, which was founded in 1958 and now has around 30,000 students and more than 30 research centers, plans to further expand the partnership by introducing dual degree programs in natural sciences and information technology.


The conditions for launching joint training programs were reviewed together with the officials of the Coordinating Center for International Education, Director Attila Jenei and Program Coordinator László Kozma, following which the delegation held further discussions about the details at the two faculties concerned regarding the two natural science and two IT programs.
