Book donation from Australia

The Embassy of Australia provided a gift in support of the library of the Institute of English and American Studies of the University of Debrecen.
Even though the University of Debrecen only has a single Australian student, studying in the dentistry programme, students of the Institue of English and American Studies have had an opportunity to study the culture of the distant country for decades, thanks to the number of courses offered on an ongoing basis, as well as a specialisation in Austrialan studies.

At his visit to Debrecen on 29 July, David Lewis, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Vienna, emphasised that he was fascinated during his visit at the end of last year by the quality of professional work at the Institute of English and American Studies of the University of Debrecen, and it was decided then that the embassy would offer a donation of books to improve the holdings of the institute library on Australian topics.
The books, symbolically received by Elek Bartha, vice rector for education, and Gabriella Espák, deputy director of the institute, include the significant works of literature and social history from the 19th and 20th centuries, which will now be available for loan to students of the University of Debrecen from the institute library.
