In compiling the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) by subject 2024, the same performance indicators were used as in the editing of the THE global rankings, but the indicators - research quality, industrial embeddedness, international outlook, research environment and teaching weighting - were recalibrated to take into account the specificities of the subject areas.

This year, the University of Debrecen has again been included in the Times Higher Education thematic ranking in the natural sciences and is already ranked as the best institution in Hungary. It was ranked in the 501-600 category in the international ranking.
